Public Relations and marketing communications

Carers Federation Ltd

Over a six month period, I worked as a communications consultant for Nottingham-based charity the Carers Federation Ltd, delivering a communications plan to support business development activities, existing Carers Federation services and advising the board on public relations. The results included a range of local media coverage for the Carers Federation and its services, along with delivery of bespoke communications plans.

What the client said:

“Of particular value to us was Andrew’s strong knowledge of internal and external communications and his ability to place effective press releases that gain media coverage.”

Julia Tabreham, Chief Executive, Carers Federation Ltd

Slater & Brandley

Last summer, I helped property lettings company Slater & Brandley raise its profile as part of a local school’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations by researching and writing this news release, which was covered by the Nottingham Post.

What the client said:

“I started working with Andrew during 2012 as he helped Slater & Brandley to structure a public relations strategy. For some time we had been looking for someone who could fully embrace our unique culture and promote this best in the minds of our customers. Andrew fitted the bill perfectly – since working with him we have been fortunate enough to engage in a number of high-profile promotions that have helped our business grow despite the economic outlook.

“Andrew’s work for us to date included our sponsorship of a Jubilee Ball for the Jesse Gray Primary School of West Bridgford, which marked its 60th birthday in 2012. Andrew brought a raft of fresh ideas  on how best to create the maximum exposure for our business and we were very pleased with the final result.

“I have no hesitation in recommending Andrew’s services. He engages in his subject with a real passion and is more than prepared to push for the very best outcome for us.”

Garry Slater, Managing Director, Slater & Brandley

The Albinism Fellowship

During Albinism Awareness Week (July 9-15, 2012), I helped to shape a press release for the national, local and specialist media to raise awareness of the condition. I also contacted the local media in Nottingham to publicise the story, leading to coverage in the Nottingham and Trent Valley Journal and specialist publication Day

This work was done for the Albinism Fellowship, a charity I support.

What the client said:

“As chair of a small charity supporting people with a rare genetic condition, I engaged Andrew to assist us in developing press releases to support an awareness campaign.

“I was delighted with how Andrew approached the challenge. He took time to understand our requirements, skilfully guided and supported the thinking of our board on communicating some complex issues and how best to get our messages across to a variety of audiences.

“He helped us maintain the momentum of the project and skilfully crafted press releases that enabled us to achieve an increased level of interest in our cause.

“We will now be engaging Andrew on a range of other projects and will be delighted to work with him again.”

Mark Sanderson, Chair, Albinism Fellowship

The Palace Theatre

Another recent project was Marketing Communications work for The Palace Theatre, Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, during Spring 2012. This included creating and overseeing the production of promotional materials, writing for the theatre’s website, social media campaigns, and P.R.

What the client said:

“Andrew worked as a marketing consultant for the Palace Theatre Newark over a two month period.  He took responsibility for all aspects of marketing and PR and was able to quickly and efficiently pick up the day-to-day marketing activities required by the theatre, including negotiating advertising for press promotions, creating adverts, e-shots and promotional letters and consulting with external promoters to secure ticket deals for promotional activities.

“During this period, Andrew took the lead on co-ordinating the exclusive press launch of our pantomime star and worked closely with Paul Holman Associates to ensure maximum coverage of this event. He also assisted the delivery of the theatre’s events diary to a tight deadline, and created new web pages  for these events.

“Andrew was an effective, organised, independent and productive member of the team, with a confident approach and attention to detail.”

Carys Coulton-Jones, Theatre Manager

What other clients have said about my P.R. and media relations skills:

“Andrew is highly professional, dedicated and produces quality work consistently whether in pressure situations or in everyday public relations. Andrew is a great team member and works to always ensure the best possible outcome.”

Writing for the web

Le Pain a la Main

I created copy for the 2012 launch of a new artisan bakery, creating breads and pâtisseries  for customers in West Bridgford and across Nottingham using authentic ingredients. The project included using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) copy writing  techniques:

Asprey Estates

I also wrote and edited web content for the launch of a new estate agency business,, during autumn 2011.

What the client said:

“Andrew took care of the copy writing when we launched our new website at Asprey Estates.
